Festival of Family Farms: Take 4

This is the 4th year we've been to the Family Farm Tour.  This year though, we went east and took in some different farms.  They didn't disappoint!

Who doesn't love Scottish Highland cattle?!

Sadly their pictures did not win the coloring contest.  The judges must not have understood all the extra treasure map, rocket spaceship stuff Ryker drew in nor Kya's robot french fry....

Perkins apple farm had about 25 varieties of apples out for tasting.  We tasted most of them.  No matter how hard I tried to move them back to the car, these porkers would not back away from the samples.  I had to buy some of these grapes to get Kya to leave.  We already had a bunch of apples at home or I would have gotten some, but don't worry, we went back a month or so later and got 50lbs.  We are about due for another apple run.  They are delicious and pretty inexpensive.

Naps on the way to the Double O Ranch and Ovenell's Heritage Inn

Goodbye fury beasts

Hello Mount Baker

Wake up, we're here!

Just days old

Make your mark girl!

Kya wanted nothing to do with Blossom even though she was handing out tattoos.

Ahhh, the shirtless wonder shows his stuff.  This kid has to take his shirt off the minute he gets in the car if the sun is even shining a smidge.  He is always so hot.  We hopped in the car and headed for our neighborhood dairy.

Back off cow, this fudge bar is mine!

It appears as though Kya knows someone here....nope....she's waving at some cows looking at her creamsicle.

That is one tall silo

Chow line!

Squirty Gerty

"I know all about baby calves.......blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.............."  I don't mean to make fun of his knowledge of what seems like every subject imaginable, but this kid will spout every fact until he is blue in the face.  He is a talker and he is at the stage where he loves to share.  He's a sponge and so is Kya.  Sometimes they will both be telling me about something and I'll ask where they learned it.  Ryker will sight a teacher, adult, book, or show and Kya will often sight Ryker.  Yes, Ryker.  He talks to her in length about the things he "knows all about" and she soaks it up.

Searching for prizes in the hay.

We are here about every weekend during berry season so we usually skip it, but this year we went because we had about an hour left before the farms closed down and it is close to our house.

Not sure what possessed this.....

but he man decided to pick up a bale....hmmmm, maybe just to see if he could?

"Take that bale!"

When's this hayseek getting started?
