New adventures await when you are 3

Ryker's birthday started off bright and early with his first trip to the dentist.  Even though many people told him they hate going to the dentist prior to the big day (who does that? use your brain people!), in true Ryker fashion, he loved it.  This kid loves every new experience.  Usually they just do as much as the kids will tolorate, but never fail, Ryker was the perfect patient through the whole thing.  He got Xrays, a teeth cleaning, flouride rinse, and everything else they do at a regular checkup.  I wasn't even there for most of it, because Kya was not being quite the model citizen her bro was and was trying to get into everything and yelling when I wouldn't let her.  We went out to the waiting room where she could run free.  Seth was in the chair on the other side of the wall so we didn't completely abandon him.
"Let's do this!"
Kya destroying the waiting room
After the dentist, we rolled out to daycare where Ryker and Kya shared a few birthday high fives.
And a few low ones.

I picked them up early and we had a little party at daycare before heading home.  Ryker wanted dirt cups which turned out to be very interesting.  Two of the kids thought it was really dirt and wouldn't eat it.   We finally talked one into trying it, but the other one never did.
We got home and opened a few presents which consisted of underwear, socks, and these battlesticks.  Of course, he wasn't into the first two, but the battlesticks are still going strong.

I know is seems like he didn't get to have a very exciting birthday, but just wait.  This was just October 4th, a Tuesday.  We were throwing him a party on the boat with a sleepover, that he had been planning with me since August.  We had to wait for the boat to get back though, so that was just last weekend.

Pumpkin Proposal

You can't see the second one very well, but it says She Said Yes!  Congrats to my little bro Ty and his fiance Nikki who got engaged last night!  Perfectly executed proposal.   Memorable with the element of surprise.  Great job Ty!  I'm so happy for you both and excited for Nikki to be part of our family.
Ryker is definitely excited because Nikki is still going strong playing with him long after the rest of us are tired out.  She probably rode the escalator in the Vegas airport 15 times before she tried to redirect him to something else.  He's also still coming down from his wedding high after Kara's so he's ready for another.

Hip Hop Horray, happy happy day!

Ride Like the wind - or Not

Part of our MS 150 bike team ready to roll.
Jesse, Randy, Me, Liz, Audrey, and Tara
They don't call it LaConner Flats for nothing.

And here they come.
Tara and I caught up to them at the rest station.

Randy and Audrey rolling off the Tommy Thompson trestle.

Day 2 Riders with Ryker

Set to see them off and cheer them on

Waiting at Randy's to cheer

Ryker explains to Colton the ins and outs of using an airhorn.

Wooooo Hoooo!  They made it!

End of Aug and Sept Randoms

I kept seeing everyone posting first day of school pictures at the end of August, so we took one too.

Seth made it home at the beginning of September.  He had a spectacular seine season.  Yep, best fisherman ever!

As soon as Seth got home and could watch Kya while we road to the mailbox, we took Ryker's training wheels off.  He had it completely figured out within 15 minutes.  This was from the beginning of September.  We've already had to raise his seat because he stands and rides sometimes now and has a lot of 'tricks' he likes to do...you know, power skids, wheelies, what I like to call the 'crazy driver', ect.

A little rare alone time to read without someone turning the pages and and opening all the flaps.
Times up, he's out of the bath and straight over to the action.

Walkin' Fool
Sweet tatoo sleeve he got in the mail from Grandma Patti.  This one is going to be hard to beat on my "oh my gosh, look what Grandma mailed this time" meter.  Ha ha, just kidding Mom, he loves every package and card he gets.

Seth brough home his silly socks and Ryker was thrilled when he saw them in his bag.  I, of course, suggested they wear them at the same time.  Lookin' good guys.
A little uncomfortable with all the glitter glue.

Ryker found these sweet jewels in the craft box.  I bought them for crafts, but he decided to bling himself up while I was in the shower.

Nice placement buddy.  Accentuate those knees!

No outfit is complete without a hand me down Spongebob watch.

"Look at the new shirt my Daddy brought me from AK!"

"Hello Dad?  You've only been home for a day.  Shower on your own time, we've got catching up to do!"
Ryker always had interesting reactions when Seth came home.  Sometimes sad, sometimes unsure, sometimes we wondered if he recognized him, and even when he was very excited, hestill gave him a little cold shoulder action.  Kya, on the other hand, couldn't get enough of him.  She followed him everywhere.  I'm guessing it was less tramatic for her because she has Ryker.  I think if he went away for a couple days, she'd take notice!  We'll see what the next time brings.  Just when I think I know how they will react, it changes.
"Hey Mom, watch this!"
Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!. Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!  Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Yep, it was so bad and I was so lazy, I brought Cosmos in to help out!  Ryker thought it was pretty cool and funny that Cosi was in the house.  It took me a few minutes just to coax him into coming in.  He wouldn't come in at all for Seth.  I don't think he's been in the house for at least 5 years and he's only been in a handful of times.  I'm looking forward to the day when he can sit on our poarch and see in the window so he's not always so separated from us.  I was really excited for our new house for Chacon, because he would have loved that aspect.  Cosmos really likes his house and hangs there a lot, so he won't love our new house as much as Chacon would have.  Chacon liked to be in the shop and often sat at the top of the stairs at the entry to our house above the shop.  I think he just like to be able to hear us.  It makes me sad when I see Cosmos out there looking in now, because I was so looking forward to putting a bed on the poarch for Chacon and already thought about all the noseprints I would be cleaning off the french doors.  He also had that crazy drool and would have made a huge mess of our window, where Cosmos isn't a slobbermonger.

Spirit of the Spud 2011!  No other pics because I forgot my camera, but I'm pretty sure the giant pan of potatoes au graten broke the world record.

The big 0-1!!

Happy Birthday to our little girl. I can’t even call her a baby anymore because she walks, talks (not too many real words, I should have said squawks), and has a mind of her own! She’s obsessed with putting on coats and like her big brother, always wants to go outside. She’s an easy going, happy little girl who right now cannot get enough of her Daddy. I’m in for some trouble when he leaves in December to fish crab. Ryker sang happy birthday to her in the car for the last 3 days and has been addressing her as “happy birthday girl” whenever he talks to her. He gave her a birthday kiss after we sang to her at her daycare party and asked if she gets birthday spankings like Lacy. Nope buddy, those are reserved only for Lacy. You can get her again next year on the 3rd anniversary of her 29th birthday.

I’m two days late on this post because I was hoping to find the time to include a picture of her, but something always happens and I’m not able to get it done. Last night the computer was in the new house and between dinner, books and bedtime, I didn’t make it back over there to do a blog post. Maybe this weekend while Seth and the kids are at a birthday party. I’m staying home to clean up our new house because we are finally nearing the end! We came home from Vegas to a nearly completed deck and that is the last thing we need finished before we can get the County to sign off on our permit. YeeeeeHaaaaw! About 2 ½ years of work finally coming to a close…..what will we do with all our free time? I love our old house and I’m glad we are not totally walking away from it. I could barely part with my Sommerset and Jimmy, how could I walk away from my first house? It has been a wonderful place to live, but we are ready to make some memories in our new house.

Happy 3rd Birthday Ryker!

Today the little man turns 3.  He has a big day of tot soccer, lunch with Dad, and a party at daycare ahead of him.  We made dirt cups last night and he hammered the oreos and scooped them on top of the worms.  He's very excited to share them at daycare.  He is mostly excited about getting on a plane tomorrow and heading to Vegas though.  He doesn't know the first thing about Vegas, but he knows who all is going to be there and for that reason alone, he is pumped up!  The boat is still not back from Alaska so he will get his boat sleepover probably around the end of October.  He talks about it non-stop so it might be late, but there's no way it will be forgotten!  Good thing the new boat has a better heat source than a diesel oven!  It might be a little cold out by the time we have this party.
