Hellooooo Grandma, Goodbye Dad

My Mom came out to watch the kids on my last day of work because my day care was closed.  She stayed the rest of the week and with me not having to work, we had some fun.
After dinner one night Ryker suggested we take her up to the top of Blanchard Mountain.  He is turning out to be quite the social coordinator.  He likes to squeeze activities into every last second of daylight.  I love it....it reminds me of someone else I know!

Seth was fishing sardines and rolled into town from about 10pm to noon the next day.  He moved gear all night and came into the house about 5am to load some software for his salmon fishery.  The kids woke up ecstatic to see him but he still had a lot of errands to run so we went with him. You know, some good quality family time....trip to Napa, Home Depot, and the fuel dock (well almost, more about that later).
We had to take the truck up and leave it for him the night he got in.  Then we hit up the park.  Here they are posing at one of the fisherman's memorials in Squalicum Harbor.

Pit stop on Chuckanut Drive

We loaded up the next morning to head to the fuel dock.

And we got stuck in the harbor....

Apparently they need to dredge their harbor or we need to fuel up elsewhere.  Gibb had to pull us out with the skiff.  Ryker was a little worried and ready to get throw on his survival suit being the safety conscience young man that he is.  He had a lot of questions, but I assured him that Dad had everything under control.....hahaha!

"Uh, yeah, we've run aground.  Is there anyone that could come out here and get my sister and I.  I am a little unsure about my parents right now.  No?  No one?  Okay, can you patch me through to CPS?  I'd like to lodge a complaint."

Tied up back at the dock watching the crew re-stack the net to put the skiff on the boat.

Loading the skiff.  They love this stuff.  I know I've said it before, but they think Seth's crewmen are superheros!

So long superheros!

So long Dad!  Maybe it was the fact that Grandma was there or maybe because they got to see them pull away, but saying goodbye at the dock this time was way easier than saying goodbye at the airport.  It also could have been that we were headed straight to the playset instead of sitting in a car for an hour and a half driving home thinking about how much they miss their dad.

And they're off.....

And they're stuck again....bwahahaha!
Bellingham really needs to dredge their harbor.  They had to tie back up to the dock and wait for high tide.  Guess it's a good thing they didn't have a bunch of extra fuel on....hahahaha.

We normally go to the Anacortes 4th of July parade, but we my great aunt was in town so we headed over to Sedro Woolley to go to the parade with my cousins.

Yep, always rocking on his chair

Anacortes has massive amount of Fire trucks because of the refineries.  Woolley has log trucks!

There was over 100 floats.  We had to finally leave after 2 hours.  It wasn't even over, but it was well past lunch time and kids had to pee.

Sprint cars

There's that Bronco "pusher" that Ryker's in love with from Skagit Speedway.

You know it!  We'll be there!  I already posted our trip to the Big Rig races.

Off to Joyce's for a BBQ

Who knew Woolley on the 4th could be so fun?!

Fireworks show

The fireworks went past 11:00.  Ryker was barely hanging on, but he refused to go to sleep for fear of missing something.  It was a great weekend!
