Finally a little snow at our house

We got one good snow this year in January.  It stuck around Bow for about 3 days and we made the most of it!

Our neighbor Steve even joined the fun and brought out the big toys!

Puppies are all the same in snow.  This is exactly what Cosmos used to do.

The only other young kid on the lane, Memphis headed out to join the fun.

 

I tried to freeze colored water in balloons, but it wasn't cold enough to actually freeze the water so we popped them and threw them instead to color the snow.

Yay for snow!

 

January happenings

Seth rounded up a kick ass crew to take the boat from Bellingham to Blaine to be hauled out for some work.  Here is the first mate!

Take a good look here people!  This may be the only photo in existence of Seth without facial hair since high school!

 We decided to stay overnight since the kids love sleeping on the boat and it was pretty stormy.  We wanted to be there in case any of the lines needed to be loosened or tightened since the boat was blowing around pretty good.  We had to wake them up and carry them through the rain and the wind about midnight because I was feeling awful and was worried that I was going to need to go to the emergency room.  I didn't want Seth to have to carry us all off the boat so we decided to go before I got worse.  I made it through the night and went to the doctor the next day thinking maybe I had my first UTI (self diagnosed on the internet...haha).  Nope, he said kidney stone.  What?  Whatever!   Why would I have a kidney stone!?  He was right, the next day, there it was.  Pretty weird little phenomenon.....peeing out a rock....

Kya has been wanting her own thing pretty badly and we've been looking, but there isn't a whole lot out there for 3 year olds that Ryker hasn't already done.  We found it though finally and she started dance class.

It's a dance combo that includes tap, ballet, and tumbling.  She's pretty into the tumbling.

Ryker participated in the Anacortes Parks basketball program again this year. He was happy to see part of his SJM posse there too.

The kids love this stuff.  I am so thankful to live in a place that has so many free wonderful events.  If you are bored around here, it is your own fault!

We watched the 1st half of the Super Bowl at Randy's.  Half time called for a little soccer.

The adults were doing shots after each touchdown so the kids wanted in on the fun.  We went home for the second half and they wanted to continue the apple juice shots.

The kids really wanted to go to Seattle for the Seahawks parade.  Seth was crabbing and I didn't want to venture there on my own with 2 kids.  From what I've heard, that was a good call on my part.....the parade started late, the traffic was horrific, it was cold, there were so many people, many kids couldn't see.....but the actual parade was awesome by all accounts!  I recorded it and we had a parade viewing party that night to try to make up for it.  They weren't quite as disappointed after seeing it.  It wasn't really their kind of parade.  They like it when stuff is thrown and there are crazy floats.
