If life hands you lemons........

Make Lemonade.
Then sell it to your neighbors who are kind enough to stop by and leave very generous tips!

The little entrepreneurs decided to sell the flowers we had gotten from the farm that day as well since we were leaving for Montana in two days and couldn't keep them anyway.  Ryker thought $3 was a good price, but Jessie gave him $5.

Did you pay for that lemonade your drinking?  Remember Mama doesn't have a job anymore kids.  Make some money!

Pretty much every neighbor we have and then some had already stopped, but these two did not want to shut down their stand.  I think they thought people would be back for more.  I was mowing the lawn and they had 3 cars backed up at one point.  Neighbor Dave showed up on his riding lawn mower.  The kids thought that was pretty funny.  At the end of the day, they had almost $20.  Not bad for 25 cents a glass.  We have some big tippers in our neighborhood.

When life hands you raspberries.......make hand cranked raspberry ice cream.  Then sneak off to the blueberry bushes and get a couple of those for your ice cream too.
It's a good thing our CSA owners think these two are cute and love that they are so "into" the farm because they had no problem busting into the blueberry area before we were allowed to pick them.  After they went and got some for their ice cream, Christie gave them a container and told them to pick as many as they could find ripe even though they were waiting to have enough for all the members at the same time.

Still picking on the way back to our car.

Let Freedom Ring!

We were up early on the 4th of July getting ready for the Anacortes parade.  Ryker has been begging me to ride his bike in a parade since he was 2 on his balance bike, but it was too hard to do with Kya being so young and Seth is not usually around during parade season.

Ready to rock this parade.  We even found ourselves a group to ride with when we rolled up.  One of my old co-workers was promoting a bike safety workshop with a group of kids so we rode with them.

They didn't rock it quite like Kara and I did back in the day with our Petal/Pedal Power, but they're still young.  They'll get better.  Seriously though, don't make too much fun of this picture.  I did win first place in my category.  It's possible that I was the only entry since it was Wibaux, but whatever....a W is a W and I'll take it!

DadBear ready to toss some candy and balloons.

The bikes were the very first things through the parade so after we were done we ran back to sit with my "gym friends" and watch the rest.

That afternoon we attended an outdoor concert at the Port.

Smokewagon!

Listening to tunes, throwing rocks.

Packed lawn

Kya was recognized as the little biking cowgirl in the parade all afternoon.  Apparently, she made quite an impression.

And She's Off!

Take a look at this picture....

Now this.  Notice the difference?  Yep, this girl shed those pesky training wheels June 30th!  She is a rockstar!

Ryker was so proud of her that he ran back to the house to get the camera and snapped some pictures and a couple videos.

Ryker was as pumped and as proud as Kya!  He was so encouraging.  I hope they are always this supportive of each other.  He told me at dinner that he felt so happy and it was a great day because of Kya's accomplishment.  And yes, he used the word accomplishment.  He also said that riding a bike was very impressive at her age.  I love that kid's vocabulary!  He said he didn't even do anything, but he still felt really good.  Yep buddy, when you are a kind person, you are just as happy for others as you are for yourself.  Stay that way.

The first of many "big kid" rides together!

Closing out June

Accessories by Ryker

Wearing a headband makes you feel like break dancing.

The moment Kya had been waiting for!  Monsters U was finally out or as she calls it "Mike and Sulley go to College."

Last track meet

Yep, he is using pretend blocks now.  He saw some high school kids using them at the last meet.

Colton is to the left of him.  After looking at Ryker, he decided he'd try out the blocks too.

Go!

Fast group....he barely squeaked this one out.
