The big 0-3

Kya's birthday and Ryker's birthday seemed to go on for 2 weeks.  Cards and presents trickled in late for Ryker and early for Kya.  It all ran together, but at this point, Ryker's is over and we are celebrating Kya!
We were down playing at the neighbor's pond and Ryker's boat that he bought with some birthday money ran aground! We forgot there was a big rock in the middle of the pond.

This is his worried/upset face.  As you can see, Kara has on her bwahahaha face.  Not nice to laugh in such a dire situation Kara!  It was pretty funny.  I ran home and got a telescoping paint stick and pushed it off.

Kya stayed home with Kara one day while Ryker was at school and Seth and I were in Seattle.  She received a card in the mail that day with money in it.

Kara was ready with the camera to capture the excitement.

Jumping with joy fluffy hair.

Then she opened her present from Kara and Brian and did this pose.  What the heck?

Ty and Nikki sent a huge package that got everyone excited.  It was all good stuff, right down to the lawn mower box that it came in.  They played with that for days!

Ryker got a gemstone dig kit, a volcano making kit, a rocket, and dino dig kit.  They kept him busy for days!

Castle blocks from big brother.

Kya's birthday meal request:  Clam chowder made with a geoduck, oysters, and pomegranates. Interesting combo. She had to settle for steamers, mussels, oysters on a half shell and pomegranates.  Seth made her chowder a few days later.  Strange 3 year old!

Birthday morning!

Dad had to show me up and make them into Mickey Mouse shapes.  Ryker just got plain old round pancakes from me.

Birthday dinner at Sakura.

Kya loves all the hibachi chef's tricks!

Ryker's chopstick skills were pretty impressive.

Kya's?  Not so much.

Strawberry cheesecake with a sparkler....perfect!

Brian flew in to Bellingham and he and Kara went to Canada for a few days.  The kids were anxiously awaiting his arrival.  First thing Ryker wanted to show him:  his new boat!

Kya was happy to take a spin on his bike while he was playing.  She found out how much faster she can go on his 16" bike rather than her 12" one and she wants a new bike bad.  Ryker needs a bigger one too so he's asking Santa for one and Kya has already asked if she can have his.  Now she just has to wait until December.

Let's get this party started!  Where are all my friends?
This waiting around is killing me!

Scream containers to hold all their piñata loot!  The lovely picture in the background was colored by Kara....just one of her assignments while we were at school.

Kya's monster theme was perfect because I didn't have to clean up right away.  It looked like we were just decorating for Halloween.  The monster face on the door is still there as I type this.

Guess what showed up a half hour before Kya's party?   The present from Seth and I that Ryker had been anxiously waiting for this whole week.  He now can't stand the mail man because he is sooooo slow!  Good thing there was lots of help here to get it set up fast so he could take a couple laps before the party.

I didn't get very many pictures because I was helping the kids dress, but it was pretty funny.  I figured they would all dress up once and be done, but they kept changing costumes. Most weren't into Pin the Eye on the Monster, so I'm glad they liked this game.  Ryker insisted that it be Kara in the bed to scare because he was worried Uncle Brian would jump out of the bed and scare him.

Help me get my mustache on, Mom.

The kids had to walk the board and make it through the swinging spiders and bats without falling off into the spiders and rats.

Garrett and Logan stayed in costume.

They really liked this game too.

Happy Birthday to you!

Time to bust open Mike!

My 3rd grade paper mache` experience came in handy this year.  I made this piñata and dino eggs for Ryker's party.

Today was a real treat!

I know I still owe you pics of Kya's birthday, but Seth is in Montana and the kids were dying to share their day with him.  They wanted him to see their "super awesome" (their words) Halloween costumes.
Our day started by packing all our gear for the entire day into our trunk and heading off to school.  We dropped Ryker off, then Kya and I waited in the car in a "secret mission" until Ryker's class headed out of the school and to the park.  Then we snuck in with some other parents and decorated the school for the Halloween party.  Kya then played puzzles and was the "lookout" until we saw the class walking back.  She really wanted to hide, jump out, and yell boo at all the kids but I talked her out of it.

After the party we headed to Burlington for our last soccer class.  We changed into our uni's in the car and got ready for some fun with Coach David!

Waving to her adoring fans as she goes up to collect her certificate.

Ryker's turn.

Ryker and Larkin were very calm.  We were wondering what was going on.  They were just waiting patiently for the Coach to give them instruction.

They weren't even talking.....
We were all confused as to what was going on.....
Even the Coach commented on it.
They acted as though we'd given them a sedative before practice.

And they're back.  We had to make quite a few jokes before they snapped out of it.

Little sister's hanging at the play set.

After soccer, we jumped in the car and headed to Grandma and Grandpa's to change into our costumes.

After they were transformed into Jake and Izzy from Jake and the Neverland Pirates, we headed to Anacortes for the downtown trick or treating.

In case you don't follow Disney Jr. cartoons...

They loved that a hand passed you candy out of a box at Bayshore.

The Kilburn's yard!  Always a must see.

Spaceship landed on Planet SKOOB.  (Books backward because she's a librarian!)

After trick or treating, we went to the Salzer's house for dinner where the kids got CRAZY!  Ryker and Kya loved seeing the trick or treaters come to the house and get treats.  We never have trick or treaters, so it was new to them.  We got home about 7:30, stopped at one neighbors house, and found 2 Halloween cups filled with goodies on our doorstep.  We are guessing it was Jenna, but will have to "solve this mystery tomorrow" according to Kya.

I put the kids to bed and headed down to dig through their candy bags.
Ryker: I can hear you opening our candy.
I bust out laughing and couldn't even answer him.
Ryker:  You could have at least asked.
Me:  I thought we were sharing.
Ryker:  I'm happy to share if you ask.
Me:  Go to bed or I'm eating it all.
Silence....
