Bucket List Complete

With one day to spare.  Ryker returns to school on Thursday and swimming lessons next Monday. Back to the old grind.

We hit the roller rink again since we had such a great time the first go round.

I got horrible pictures because they move too fast.  I got some good video of Ryker tearing it up though.  Adam (Colton's Dad) was skating and Ryker was chasing him, trying to keep up.

5. Boat sleepover.....check!

A friendly game of Cooties

Roll it girl!

Seth could win on this roll.  He only needs a 6 to get his Cootie's last leg.  Ryker is on pins and needles because he too only needs one more leg and if Seth doesn't get the 6, it's his turn.

No 6!

I took a burst (quick 8 photos) on Ryker's roll because it could have been the game winner.  I put most of the pics here because it ended up being the winning roll and it is pretty funny (mostly Seth's reaction).
He's real serious about how he holds his dice to roll a 6.

Yeah, buddy!  You got it!

No! I was only 4 legs away!

On to a jumping/dance party in the tophouse.

Scanning the marina for "evil villains."

Back to the galley for some animal dominoes.

They got these corn cobs in their stockings.  You put them in a bag and they pop right up.  A lot of it stays suck to the cob too so it is pretty funny to the kids.  I burnt Kya's though so you don't get to see the end result.  It was smoking and stinking so bad that I had to put it on the back deck.  This is what it looked like before and Kya was a little confused.

Bed time.  Hey Dad, who's that peeking over your bunk?"

Such comedians

Morning. Time to head home.

The rails are so high on this boat, they have to peek out holes.

Miss Kya even went potty at the boat!  I'm calling it.....I think she's got it.  I'm not saying there won't be accidents and we'll see how it goes at the gym tomorrow when I'm not hovering, but I'm pretty sure she knows the drill.  I'm in big trouble, because I've been telling her there are a lot of things she can do once she uses the toilet instead of a diaper.  I'm going to need to make good on some of those.  Guess I'll be lying about her age to get her into swimming lessons early.  Hopefully she doesn't really want to follow through with going to Ryker's preschool already.

 6)  Work on log cabin fort...check!  Even though it was brief.  Ryker decided he wanted to ride his bike with his new sweet muffler from Santa and Kya thought the chainsaw was too loud.

7)  Sledding at Mount Baker.....still not up for driving that far to find snow.

8)  Chuck E Cheese.....thankfully they forgot about it.  If I feel guilty tomorrow, we might end up there, but I'm hoping they both just want to go to the gym instead.  Ryker has only been a couple times because he's usually at school so it is fun for him and Kya likes to introduce Ryker to her friends so hopefully tomorrow is Take Your Big Brother to the Gym day.  I can wear one of my new workout shirts I got from Santa too!

Mission accomplished this Christmas break unless this little astronaut decides to add a moon trip with her super hero buddy to the list.
Look what came with our cat!  These great costumes and a knight one as well!  Thank you Chomjaks!

Out with a Bang!

We closed out 2012 in a big way.
On December 30th, we got a cat....sort of.  One of my friends is moving and can't take her cat with her.  She was trying to give me a piano, but by chance said something about her cat, thinking it would be more of a joke.  (Funny thing is, I've had a cat/piano choice before, but more on that at a later date.)  She was surprised when I actually showed some interest.  Seth and I have talked about getting a cat to keep the mice out of our shop in the spring and summer, but never have because we were looking for a wily barn cat and I felt kind of bad about getting a kitten that would have no chance on his own around our house with all the coyotes.  We're not exactly cat people and this cat needs to earn it's keep!  He can't just lay around like our lazy dog and expect food.  Carol said her cat was 6, lived outside for the most part, and was quite the hunter.  Perfect!   They brought it over two days ago, he ran out of the carrier, and under our deck.  We've put out a can of tuna, some turkey, and some milk trying to coax it out but no luck.  We can't see him under there and I was starting to think he ran off, but when we came home this morning from our New Year's sleepover........

Yeah!  He's still around!  We tracked him and it appears as though he may have cruised up the stairs and around to where Cosmos sleeps, then high tailed it back under the deck.  I'm thinking about putting Cosmos in the shop for a night if he doesn't show his face soon.  Funny thing is, we don't even really know what he looks like.  We know he's orange, but none of us were there when they opened the carrier so we only saw his face from behind bars.  Kya got the best look at him because she squatted down and really checked him out.  She just says he's orange and little and wants to lick her.  I sure hope we see him soon because Kya is really excited about him, which is pretty entertaining considering the only contact she's had with it, he was mad about the car ride over and was hissing at her.  Maybe she'll be the cat lover in our family.

Speaking of exciting, Kya had her first completely dry day yesterday.  We celebrated with frozen yogurt.

Seth flew his first solo flight.

And we had our first family sleepover with lots of fun families for New Year's Eve.

It's been great 2012.  You will be tough to beat, but we are up for the challenge!  Bring on 2013!

Potty People!

We like to potty.  We like, we like to potty!
Yep, every song that has the word party in it has been changed to potty for the last three days and we've been kickin' it.  We even had boat potty's at our boat party Saturday night.  My Christmas break bucket list only has one thing on it....potty train Kya.  I only have a couple days left before we are back to our regular schedule so we've been sucking down the liquids the last couple days to give us lots of opportunities to potty.

For some reason, no matter what incentive we give Kya for peeing in the toilet, it seems the reward she values the most is a hug and a high five from her brother.  She jumps up from the toilet seeks him out and gets her hug and high five, them comes back for her candy treat.  He's usually not too far away.  When he sees or hears any kind of bathroom action it is like a candy dinner bell to him and he comes running.

Tonight we have a big New Year's sleepover which Kya thinks is to celebrate her potty success!  I may have lead her to believe that....

Christmas Break Bucket List

1.  Make Christmas cookies

Check!

2.  Roller Skating

Kya, Pace, and Ryker (biffing it right as I snapped the pic!)

Colton

Kya, Arie, Pace, Ryker, Kate, Hanna lined up for a lesson

The "cool" kids hanging out

Check!

3.  Build a fire
Check!
Seth also burned some leaves and branches outside so they actually got two fires!

4.  Go to a movie
Check!
Probably not the best choice in movies as Kya is now obsessed with Randall being in her closet.  She liked the nice big fluffy monsters, but that darn Randall was a "bad guy."  She was already worried about dragons coming into her room and elephants getting into our house.  We finally convinced her that dragons were only in books and there were no elephants near Bow and then we took her to this.  I had to leave her closet door open with the light on a couple nights ago.   Anyway, it was her first movie and she enjoyed it.  It was Ryker's forth and second 3D.  He left his glasses on the whole movie this time.  It was my second 3D too and I'm just not impressed.

5.  Boat Sleepover
6.  Work on the log cabin fort
7.  Go play in the snow at Mount Baker
This one has been dropped from the list because Ryker doesn't want to sit in the car that long.  He said maybe next year.
8.  Chuck E Cheese
I'm trying to get them to forget this one.  We have a big New Year's party and a lot of other activities to fill our days so hopefully they forget about it.
