News Last Week......

Ryker thought his shoulders were only the very top of his shoulders.  No wonder he didn't understand how he was pinned in that first wrestling meet.  Even after we showed him the video, he insisted the kid didn't have his shoulders down.  This discovery helped his wrestling immensely.  Last Sunday, he pinned both his opponents.

Kya has been talking about big bro and little bro all week.  I thought she was just playing or talking about a cartoon.  She was referring to herself as little bro.  I informed her that she is actually little sis.  She seemed about as disappointed as the time I dashed her dreams of a penis growing in when she was older so she would be able to pee standing up.

Still Celebrating Birthdays!

Ryker and Kya have had a busy October/November as far as birthdays go.  In October, they went to Alexis' and Asa's parties.  Then in November, they went to Pace's Superhero party and Abby's camping party.
Ready for the volcano to blow that Ryker got for his birthday.

There is goes!

And again, outside.

Kya's favorite way to eat her veggies...cut into shapes and intermingled with other veggies!

Veteran's day party....Ryker meets the Wii.

Wrastlin'

We adults decided to join the fun and tape them together.  Aidan was able to escape before we had him good enough but Dustan and Kaden were stuck!

Kya was a bit of a weak spot in the pyramid.  We had to move her out of such a crucial position.

Much better!

I know, too many of the same picture, but these crack me up.

Going down.....
Party's over kids.

Some of Ryker's artwork from school.  He is really into drawing animals right now.

Yep, it's the brussel sprout tree again.  Only now it has been converted to a sword.
(He doesn't know I'm watching him)

Now he sees me.

Dad opening his birthday present.....a Robin shirt with a cape and something else that I can't remember because it was not nearly as awesome as the cape shirt.  He wore it to the Children's Museum that day (minus the cape unfortunately), but I have no pictures because I was in the car taking a short little 547 mile jaunt to Missoula to watch Bredt and Zach play Loyola in football.

Guess who I found in Missoula?  Unibomber? Cave man?

These cool cats showed up for the game too along with Kara and Nikki.

Sporting his get up that he made at Pace's superhero party.

Kya tied this balloon to her pants tag at the gym so it was like a "tail."  I happened to look in the bathroom and saw this. Needless to say, we had to cut the string and throw it away!  Ask her about the "poop string."  She'll tell you a pretty funny story.  She thought it was hysterical after it was all over.

Ryker drew this in school the day before Wibaux played for the state championship this year.  He was also decked out in Bobcat gear for Cat/Griz the following day.  Glad to see he's respecting the Blue and Gold!  Luckily, he will be a Tiger and they are navy and gold so I won't have to change my color scheme too much.

Gotta love the singlet!

Weighing in at 56.1 pounds, Ryyyyyykeeeeeerrrrrrr Wyyyyymaaaaaan!

Warming up with his teammates

Watching big bro

Watching the bouts
I only got warm up pictures because I had to take video for Seth during his actually bouts.

Passing the time

Waiting for his next bout.  I'm sure his coach is impressed with his dancing.  At least is wasn't stiff when he got in the ring.

Still dancing

I actually stopped taking pics an took a video because he danced so long.

Somewhere there was a mix up because the youngest kids are supposed to wrestle first.  All the other Pee Wee's had picked up their prizes were gone for hours and poor Ryker had to sit and wait by practically alone in the gym!  He was in the very last match.  It was a little ridiculous, but we made it and hopefully it doesn't happen again.  We weighed in at 7am, started warming up at 9:15, bouts started at 10, and we were finally done at about 3pm.  It was a bit of a long day.  He was complaining a little until he got one bout in and then he was excited and didn't mind the wait.

Waiting with Coach for his last bout.
He won his first one 8 to 6, then got pinned early in the next one, but they let them keep wrestling to use the time up.  He didn't even know he got pinned.  When I told him, he was mad and was going to work extra hard to win the next one.  He didn't.  It was a great match and both kids fought well but he got pinned right at the end.  There was only him and one other kid of his size so they had to wrestle each other 3 times.  After Ryker won the first one, the other kid's Dad had him in the warm up room working on moves to counter stuff Ryker specifically does.  The kid was way more ready for him the 2nd time around.  Ryker had 2 good take downs in the first bout, but the kid was ready for him shooting at him in the second and third.  I was proud of him.  He's only had 4 or 5 practices and he used a lot of moves he learned.  It was fun to watch.
After he was done, he didn't want to get his medal because he wanted gold.  I tried to talk him into getting it and then he told me he didn't want to wait in line.  I sent him home with Grandpa and waited in line.  When I picked him up and gave it to him, he wasn't impressed.  He loves medals and trophies, but I guess he's at the age where he knows the difference between winning and losing.  I'm glad that he doesn't take losing lightly, but he was a little hard himself for his first time at a meet.  He'll know what to expect for next time and he's excited to go to practice and get better.

I wanted to get a picture of him with his first medal, but he wanted to pose with this brussel sprout gun/sword/tree instead.  He requested brussel sprout when we stopped at the store and was pumped when he saw this thing!

"Face me so I can see your medal."

"Now show me your sprouts."
You decide which one he is happier about.
