Christmas

Ready to prepare our house for Santa's arrival.

Sprinkling reindeer food on Christmas Eve.

Getting Santa's cookies ready and saying goodbye to Peeka.  He showed up on Christmas Eve morning with a note from Santa tucked under his arm.  It said that the kids could each give him a hug if they wanted because he'd be riding home in Santa's sleigh and wouldn't need his magic to fly back tonight.

They were really into it and had a lot of questions after because they've never touched him before.  It was funny watching how gentle they were especially when they handed him off to the next person.  I've seen them handle a laptop like it's a baseball, but they held this piece of red cloth like it was a real baby.  The imagination is awesome!  Kid's, someday you'll find out that Peeka and Santa are not real.  Hopefully, not from reading this blog. It will be disappointing and you may wonder why we ever told you such a thing if it wasn't true.  This is part of the fun of being a kid and believing in the magic.  You read story books every day and are transported like you are really there.  You play astronauts, princesses, cowboys, and dinosaurs.  You go on secret missions, jungle boat chases, space invasions, and the other day you were herding unicorns into your closets.  This is like a real live fairy tale that we've just help orchestrate.  Believe me, you've put a lot into it too.  Sometimes we just nodded and said, "probably." Santa is part of what being a child is all about.  Without the wonder of Santa, Peeka, and Christmas in general, you might as well go straight to being a boring old adult.  Ryker, you've already come home with questions because kids at school don't believe.  I struggle with saying "of course Santa is real."  I usually just answer you with "what do you think"  OR "who else would have left you that toy last year?"   Sadly someday, you'll google "Is Santa real?"  I will do everything in my power to put parental blocks on anything involving Santa, The Easter Bunny, or Leprechauns!  I've already googled it myself and luckily, there are enough sites out there that talk about how he is real to keep the belief alive.   Believe me, it's for your own good.  Once you stop believing the charade, you'll just be getting underwear in your stocking!

Seriously, if Peeka wasn't a real elf sent to watch over us and report back to Santa, would your Dad be hugging him?  Okay, so he might not have had much of a choice when Kya handed him off and said so seriously, "you're next Daddy."
It made my day!

Kya crawling in searching for her present

Oh yeah, a new bike!  (Santa's own idea) She also got the robe from Santa.

Ryker wanted a birthday cake for Jesus.  I'm sure he was just playing me to get a cake, but it was a good angle and I couldn't deny the request.  We didn't have a cake, but agreed on star cinnamon rolls.  Oddly, he nor Kya really ate them.  They just licked the frosting off.  I guess he had his heart set on cake.

His new muffler all hooked up!  Saaaaweeeeet!

Getting the hang of the pedals.

Ryker rides fast.  Kya rides slow.  Seth and I walked with Kya.  This is what was going on when we got back to the house.
